March Madness! Choosing Fanwear for the Littlest Sports Nut

Posted on March 12, 2015 by Sharon Schneider

Hear the cheers? March Madness is around the corner. Get ready with your loudest u-rah-rah and rock fanwear to show team pride.

Basketball is the month’s main event. But this is also a great time to show your support for any sport. Because the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, get your kiddo in on the action. You’re never too young to display fandom, loud and proud. Here are ideas for shopping kids sports clothes, and tips for enjoying the big game together.

Get the Styles
A logo tee is the cornerstone of any sports fan’s wardrobe. You’ll find a slew of them in Moxie Jean’s special collections of Fan Gear for girls and Fan Gear for boys. Go beyond the basics with these pieces that come in sizes for all ages.

Jerseys – Dress like a sports star. For spring, jerseys are practical; the three-quarter-length sleeves and heavier knits are great for temperamental weather. New jerseys are usually found at sports specialty stores, but you can find a rotating selection at Moxie Jean for at least 50% below retail.

Sweatshirts and sweatpants – They’re not meant for just lounging anymore. Step out in sweats and find show your pride. The fabric makes a difference. Fleece is super soft and easy to wash, a cotton blend repels water, and a wool blend keeps you warm.

Rompers – Baby’s got team spirit! Newborn baby clothes with sports logos are a great shower gift. Rompers are considered a dressier look -- perfect for a trip to grandma’s house. As long as she's rooting for the same team, of course!

Jackets – You know the spring dressing rule for kids: layer, layer, layer. Top everything off with a sports windbreaker with easy zip-up or button styles. Then call it a blustery day.

Watch the Game
Banding together as a family to watch the big game on TV? Some tips:

-- Simplify the rules. Depending on his or her age, your child will be more engaged if they know how the game works. If you’re starting from scratch, focus on teaching just the basics (aka: “The batter hits the ball then runs for the base”) rather than explaining every infraction, foul or call. Knowing the general idea and enjoying the game is more important than raising a future referee.

-- Don’t skip the commercials. This is a great time for potty breaks, snacking or just a moment to shake the sillies out.

-- Have finger foods on hand. Rumbling tummies make for crabby kids. Keep everyone happy and avoid interruptions with pick-up-and-eat bites. Click here for recipe examples. {possibly this link >> http://www.momskitchenhandbook.com/snacks/between-meal-burnout/}

-- Wear your team gear. Doesn’t matter if you’re not in the grandstand, your living room can be one big pep rally. Have everyone wear their team gear and take some Facebook-worthy photos.

-- Remember that great family moments can spring from a love of sports. We think the below football commercial says it all.

Have fun … and game on!
